i'm afraid to get scal. someone at the nec in april, can't remember the shop, said that scal will eventually break the cricut. if the cricut is under a year old and you have a problem after using scal they can tell because of the chip in the machine and it will void the warrenty. i've had my expression for over a year now.

i'm thinking of getting scal. i just wish it'd go on sale.

think about it kim, the cricut uses computer chips. there is a way for the repair shops to access the chip to see what was done on the machine. that's how they detect faults.

whether or not the scal "breaks or hurts" the machine i too have my doubts but i don't doubt they can find out what was used and how the machine was used to make cuts.

i wish i had a relationship i.e. friendship, with a cricut repairperson to find out.

if scal went on sale for a good price i'd probably grab it as my machine is over a year old now.

I didn't cut them, Jane. The pics were from the font site. I have a Craftrobo anyway and don't use SCAL. I either use robo itself, Inkscape or Illustrator.

Thanks for this, no idea what scal is, but great font.
OK, right, now I know, it's on the link, sure cuts a lot, never heard of it before. It's not letting me in, saying link not recognised or similar

I've only got the original Cricut, so can't do anything without a cartridge anyway.

Oh - I didn't know that, Jane. Will have to look into it - though probably after the move. I thought all the new stuff only worked with the on-line Cricut, whatever it's called.

deisgn studio can be used with all of the cricuts. all you need to do is connect the cricut to the computer and install the software.

go to www.cricut.com and register and then go to community which is their forum or message board as they call it.

you will be amazed at what you find there.
