A Charity Table Empty A Charity Table

Post by WeirdCat on Mon 8 Mar 2010 - 19:35

At the retreat we had a charity table, people bought things they didn't want, like papers, stamps, old mags etc and then others chose what they wanted and put some money in a tin, I wondered if we could do something similar and then donate to a charity of our choice

Sounds like a great idea. Can I put my children in?

Seriously, I would be happy to take part, think it's a lovely idea.

Yes, of course - and I am sure we all have odd bits we will never use.

Next prob though would be what charity, we all have different ideas and reasons for those ideas. Maybe draw from a hat.

Just got rid of a load at the last retreat, but you never know I might find a few more bits by then.

Just a thought, and only if she would like us to, but I would quite like to support a charity of Patty's choosing in memory of Ken. In a way he touched all of our lives through Patty and this little forum, even though many of us never met him, we sort of 'knew' him IYSWIM?

Something to do with Cancer, especially as we are lucky enough still to have Steph with us!

I was going to suggest acancer charity as if it wasn't for cancer research
I might not have been here now, but I am happy to go along with the
majority.

Oh Tina that made me have a little grizzle (to use a Mia-ism!) It is such a lovely thing to suggest, because he was so very pleased you were all here for me when he got worse and worse. Cancer is such a slime-ball of a disease and touches so many, many families - and as you say, we have our lovely Steph too, so I think MacMillan Nurses would be fantastic because they do it all for free and I would certainly have gone under if not for them - and my man would have had to go in a home had that happened. They supported me, as well as him, as you all know. Thank you!

Sounds like a plan then.

Will have to get digging out, and of course make sure I've got plenty of pennies so I can buy stuff. Mr Green

Is it just a donation thing then, or do you specify how much.
