Have been thinking about having a go at scrapbooking, but as it's a first and maybe last effort I don't really want to buy anything too expensive, so question is - where do you buy your albums etc from? Have looked on ebay but the postage always seems ott even if album reasonable.

Oh, Di. You can get them anywhere, hun. I just look around the shops for the one's I like best.

K & Co do beautiful albums, but a little expensive.
Papermania do some good quality plain ones, and a reasonable price too.

Have a look at Craft Obsessions, Capture the Magic and Artbase Horncastle for a start, and then go from there. There really is a lot of choice. Mr Green

i use papermania ones - about £9.99 and you can easily get extension kits for them.

Like Lorraine said, you can get some loveley ones at a higher price.

Why not start with a cheapish sort like the papermanias and if its turning into a work of art, then you can buy a posher album, transfer the pages (which just go in the page protcetors and they are universal) and use the cheaper album for other stuff, your next project or works in progress.

I have always had K&Co and expensive ones, (purchased on my travels abroad) but have now started using the cheaper Papermania ones which are really lovely too and seem to also come with some papers and alphabets in them ready to use and all matching.

Also a stationers which has recently changed it's name, used to be stationery box, has a very nice kit album, stickers etc in a bag for about £10. If you have one near you.The range is good if you have one of those.
Good luck, and have fun, you could always ask FC for one.

I don't get anything from FC any more Karelyn lol.
Will look for Papermania ones - that was my idea Maria, do a cheapie one to see if I like it. Unfortunately we don't have anything like the Range etc near us, no decent craft shops at all.

Well they have arrived (great delivery time, Craft Superstore) no excuse now lol.
Do you use just one side of the white pages you get with them or do a layout on either side? Would seem to be lot of plain white pages showing if only one side, or do you put two seperate pages back to back in sleeves(if not too thick), they don't come with instructions!!

I try to use seperate pages back to back, if the paper is flimsy then use the white card page inside, but you can keep them to use for all sorts of things, or you can just stick the items ont o it if you want, but I save them as I said just use if floppy. Lay it out on a table get all your things you want to use, then push them around till it all looks right and go ahead and stick em ! Sometimes I leave it for days and keep trying different things. Good Luck.

I never use the white insers, Di and most albums don't even come with them.

I use my ordinary paper/card for my LO's and then just put them in the sleeves back to back.

I always use separate back to back pages - not usually the white card though.
That way, if you do want to move something it's okay. If you use both sides of
the same card, you you 'stuck' with it. Good luck Di.

So lightweight card 12x12 is the best way to go? More shopping then lol.

That's what I thought Steph, and if you spoilt one side both would be lost!

I've had albums with paper in and some with card in, I use the paper for rough sketching (I wish) but I have it in a bag for that purpose LOL, and I think I've doen that once or twice. I have used the card as backing, depends on the quality and I leave it in if I've got brads on the back of a LO, even thouigh I cover them with dst with the waxed bit still on, overkill perhaps. Don't think I've ever had a 12x12 album without paper in though, only little ones.
Have fun and if you're stuck there are some great sketches on here.
