I bought some highly patterned papers for a boy to do a layout of Aidan. I knew the papers would go with the pics I wanted to use, but...I can't work with them, lol. I've been shifting papers around all afternoon and still can't get it right.

What do you do with patterned papers??? How do you get them to 'fit'?

Go and look at the blog of ATDML or their gallery Lorraine, as there are several girls there who do wonders with highly patterned papers, some of which I think will look horrid, yet they don't. If I use very patterned ones, I do them in "strips" either vertical or horizontal with some plain ones in between. Good luck!

ink the edges to make them all match.

distress them with acrylic paint all over to tone them down.

No, I'm not putting my 'to do' list here, that would be far to organised, PLUS I would have to keep it up to date  Laughing

Turn them over and stamp something on the other side!

Try using one plain matching paper with them.

I've got the plain papers as I've got the whole set, but I still can't get them to work.

Maybe tomorrow, lol.

I keep looking at LO's that have done lettering using patterned papers and forgetting to do it myself. You could always put a plain mat under the pic if it's too much having the pattern next to the pic.
Cutting out odd bits of the pattern is an obvious one if it's large patterns, no good if it's dots.

Best to put them away for a couple of days. You'll get there in the end.

Shuffled about a bit more this aft' and nearly finished, but I am so not pleased with it. I think it's because the papers, although very patterned, aren't bright....I dunno. Something's not right but I can't put my finger on it.

It's not as if I haven't used patterned papers before is it?

Have taken all your suggestions on board though. Mr Green

Hope you get it sorted, it's so frustrating when you can't marry it all up.
