Card from one sheet of paper
This can be as plain or as fancy as you like: mine is plain as it's intended as a man's/boy's card, also I wanted to make the whole thing out of one sheet so the girls at the workshop can replicate it without any papercrafting equipment.
I plan to print out some Happy Birthday stickers or something to fix in the strip at the bottom: not sure yet. Both the strip and the tag have been made by drawing round a template with a felt-tip pen before cutting them out outside the drawn line, to give the blue edging. I have also used the pen to edge the two pockets.
INSTRUCTIONS
Dotted lines are folds, solid lines are cuts.
Take an A4 sheet of paper: fold it lengthwise and then crosswise.
Open it up: measure half an inch (12mm) to the left of the centre bottom fold and draw a line. Cut up this line, then cut along the folded line from the left-hand side to the centre. You will be left with the cut-out piece (marked "Cut away. Use for tag & strip") and there will be a half-inch flap to the left of the centre bottom fold.
Measure 2.25" (57mm) both sideways and downwards from the top left corner and fold this corner over.
Take the bottom right corner and fold it upwards to the centre bottom fold, so that the right-hand bottom edge sits against the centre bottom fold.
Now fold the left-hand side over the right-hand side, then the bottom part up over the top part.
Stick the half-inch flap to the back of the card, which will anchor the left-hand side of the pockets. Fix the right-hand side of the two pockets however you wish - in this case, I have used staples, but you can use d/s tape, brads etc.
Out of the cut-off piece, make a tag and a strip to adhere to the bottom of the card where you can put your greeting.
Fix a ribbon, tape etc to the tag, write your message on it and put it in the top pocket. Put your gift of money or a gift card in the bottom pocket.
You can decorate this as much as you wish, and you can have two tags with greetings and messages on instead of the gift.
If you make this with a piece of patterned paper, only the top right corner (the part behind the tag) will show the back of the paper.
Try it with some scrap A4 first to see how you go.

Re: Card from one sheet of paper
That's great Lynda. Thanks for posting it. I'll be having a go, definitely.
Would look nice attached to a card blank if anybody wanted a stand up card.

Re: Card from one sheet of paper
Ah, all makes sense now.
Good idea as it can be titivated or left plain as you say, room for those who want to decorate to have a go while leaving the less adventurous with a nice completed project.

Thanks for the instructions Lynda, visual ones are always easier for me to follow.

No, I'm not putting my 'to do' list here, that would be far to organised, PLUS I would have to keep it up to date
Re: Card from one sheet of paper
You're right, Tina - visual is almost imperative in our types of crafting. I really don't know how I would have described some of it purely in words.
I forgot to say that I did slightly alter the original instructions: in it, you cut away the whole of the bottom left-hand quarter. But that way you were left with the problem of how to adhere the left-hand side of the pockets, whereas my way you stick both of them down with just the one flap.
