Re: RETREAT PROJECTS - BOOKBINDING
Oh I do so love that paper Steph, right one question when you made the large books was the cover papers on top of or under the spine paper please, got all the things to make another one or two, also got the paint to decorate the box you gave me, got me crafting in a completely different mode LOL.

Re: RETREAT PROJECTS - BOOKBINDING
Had to have a look - I need Lorraine to put a reminder up while things are
fairly fresh. The cover papers are under the spine paper. Hope that helps.

Re: RETREAT PROJECTS - BOOKBINDING
I'll sort a tute out as soon as I can, girls.
Billie, make your pages with the spine coverings. Then just put adhesive on about 5mm of the end paper and stick it on top of your pages but UNDER the tape and bandage.
Steph, how have you got that in blue and silver when it's black and gold??? Pity, 'cause it doesn't show it real beauty. It's gorgeous paper.

Because most of my photos turned out rubbish. It seems anything taken
indoors just doesn't wok. The ones I took with old fashioned film are good,
but of course I can't put them on here - might give the new camera a try
next week.

Re: RETREAT PROJECTS - BOOKBINDING
I put this on chat but got no answer so I'll put it here where it should be.
Having trouble remembering the order of doing
the book binding and how many sheets of paper is in each signature, is it 4
sheets to make 8 pages or 8 sheets to make 16 pages, as 16 pages the
edges are very uneven and don't look right.
Thanks for any help.

Re: RETREAT PROJECTS - BOOKBINDING
Sorry, Billie. I didn't see your other post, but Kim's got it.
Make your signatures, then stitch them - don't forget the kettle knots to join them.
Glue right over the spine.
Then glue paper along the spine between each tape, then a long strip of paper over the whole lot, then your bandage.
Stick your endpapers on before adding the bandage if you want, just glueing about 5mm along the edge.

Re: RETREAT PROJECTS - BOOKBINDING
Lorraine - I repaired the ravages of the bookplates just as you suggested and it looks absolutely fine. I am as pleased as punch with it and my special needs club ladies all thought it was a bought book!!! I extolled the virtues of your wonderful class. Think they all want you to come down and teach them too!

Re: RETREAT PROJECTS - BOOKBINDING
Thank you Kim and Lorraine, I found a tutorial for the domino books and got an idea of what I had to do from that LOL.

And I would.Patty wrote: Think they all want you to come down and teach them too!
Glad you got yours repaired. I knew you would.
Good plan, Billie 'cause yes, the binding is the same as the doms (barring the strengtheners).

Re: RETREAT PROJECTS - BOOKBINDING
Okay I have stitched and glued the signatures together, I remember that I have to use bandage and vaguely (sp) remember a strip of paper comes in somewhere, is that on the signatures or the outer covers, can you tell me please Lorraine.

Re: RETREAT PROJECTS - BOOKBINDING
When you've glued your sig's together, you need so put a bit of paper the width of the spine, on the spine between each piece of tape. Then you stick another piece on right across everything. Then you stick your bandage on.
Your binding is then finished and you can attach your covers.

Re: RETREAT PROJECTS - BOOKBINDING
Thanks honey, I knew there was paper involved but could not remember where LOL.
Is there a bit of cardboard down the spine of the cover?

Re: RETREAT PROJECTS - BOOKBINDING
Yes, Billie. Just the width of the spine and a few mm either side to allow you to 'round' it off.
