Ruth's Thread Empty Ruth's Thread

Post by WeirdCat Thu 24 Feb 2011 - 20:42

I have never had a weight loss thread before, let's hope it doesn't go the way of the diary!

Well on 25th January I weighed Xst 13.5lbs
And when I weighed myself on Tuesday I weighed Yst10lbs so that's 1 stone 3.5lbs in 5 weeks which is really good but my waistband is still the same as it was and dropping a dress size would prove to me that I am losing weight as I don't believe the scales! Daft eh?

I have an awful long way to go and I hope the hypnoband thing continues to work. I go for a top up hypno session in 3 weeks time, he will at least be pleased that I have cut out bread! I am more mobile than I was but this is causing more knee problems which is annoying. So onwards, I am determined to lose weight and as the next option was to have actual surgery then this had better work LOL!

Go Ruth, Well done to you, it is hard for you with the boy's problems ontop of all that life as a single mum brings so I'm so chuffed that, even if you don't belielve the scales you have lost weight.
You are not alone in your thoughts as DD (Stacy) felt like that when she first started WW. She went last night for weighin thinking she had done bad and had gained, but no she had lost 2lb. Thing is guess who found them Rolling Eyes
HUGs and keep at it listen to the tape or whatever it is you have to do.

Ruth - that's fantastic news. It is OK for us who don't need to shed a pound, but I do remember in the past how difficult it was to stick with it. This hypno seems to be your answer and I KNOW you will succeed. You sound so happy and positive, you cannot fail my darling girl. Stick with it, knowing we are all behind you on this one!! Good luck xxxx

Post by lyndaejane Fri 25 Feb 2011 - 14:23

This is really great progress, Ruth - well done! And don't worry about not dropping a dress size, because (a) it will cost a lot of money to replace everything and (b) - more to the point - weight goes from all sorts of places that don't really affect the sizing. It's a pity that moving around more is aggravating the knee problems, though.

Keep up the good work!

Lynda

All that they said, well done. Did you measure yourself at the outset? If not do it now to see what you lose over the next month, everywhere, arms etc Then you'll see where it's gone from. Your clothes will get looser soon I'm sure. More mobile is good, knee problem is not, but like you say, you know what you've got ahead of you, so I'm sure you'll stick with it, So far very very good, enjoy!

Y stone 7.5 pounds this morning so well pleased, my jeans are getting looser and I am noticing some things are easier to do. From previous experience it comes off from face and chest first (not that there is a huge amount of chest to lose.LOL). I don't have a tape measure, keep meaning to get one but if the pounds are coming off they are coming off from somewhere. I do still have the next size down jeans from when I expanded out of them but hopefully I will see them get ridiculously baggy in time. I had a look at a catalogue the other day and found loads of nice stuff but of course mustn't order anything for the moment. What I do have in my wardrobe is a really old pair of jeans which I could get into before getting pregnant with Matthew-a reminder of that time, I doubt I'll ever get in them again however during previous weight loss attempts I used to see how far up my legs they'd go which was a useful indicator.

Post by WeirdCat Wed 16 Mar 2011 - 11:02

As of yesterday I now weigh Yst 0lbs, still not down a dress size because of my waist so a little disgruntled but have noticed differences elsewhere so overall am very pleased. Saw the hypnotist yesterday for a reinforcement session as he felt the 'band' did not need tightening or loosening. I just have to keep going, it's hard at the moment because the weekend away plus the humdinger of a cold have really taken it out of me which makes me more likely to reach for the rubbish but the determination is still there.

Well I'm full of admiration, well done.
My friend who's doing the race for life with me, weighed herself after her first practice and said she'd lost 1lb, I weighed myself, after having given up sweets, cakes, biscuits and puds and after my first on road practice weigh 2lb more!! Great, I'm sure this a temporary blip, but how encouraging eh LOL

I went back to your first post, Ruth: in just over 7 weeks you have lost virtually 2 stone - that is fantastic! I'm sorry you haven't lost the dress size yet, but it will come - although you could say you've lost a size in all the other areas, and how many of us are exact sizes anyway (I'm the other way and have to buy bigger hip sizes which are often loose at the waist)?

Sorry Karelyn has been given bad news by the scales: that is so disheartening. Over the years, we've given up all the things you list and have never lost a lb, so maybe none of us should bother!

Lynda
