I wanted to make a stretchy chain bracelet last night, with elastic threaded through some chain, with beads placed partway through. I was really happy with my design, but not the materials! I used 'stretch magic', with a view to tying a surgeons knot, then securing with a dot of glue.

Well, no sooner had I tied the knot, that it started undoing itself! No chance of the glue sticking it (jewellery cement stuff) before it had unravelled,.

Any advice please? Change the knot, or use another stringing stretchy?

Hmmmmm, strange. I was going to suggest doing exactly what you did do, Tina. It's what I do, except I use a double reef knot and pull it very tight.

I honestly don't know what else TO suggest.

Would those crimpy things used on thongs (thread type) cut the elastic? maybe you could double it back after the knot and clamp each side, you jewellers will know what I'm talking about. Probably a daft idea, even dafter; glue gun the ends after tying?
