Free potato kit, just pay 3.99 p&P
I don't know if anyone is interested, but the news of the world did this offer for a free potato kit. You get 5 tubers, one 30l grow bag and 2 x 13l bags, plus 5 packets of seeds. Just pay 3.99 p&p. Its a great offer if you fancy growing potatoes and do not have the room as you can do it on a patio. I haVE ordered one to try in our garden. You just need compost.
GO to www.plantoffers.com and the offer code is nwp30w

No, I'm not putting my 'to do' list here, that would be far to organised, PLUS I would have to keep it up to date

Ours are in the ground!
Be interesting to see how you get on with them though Jo.

I thought potatoes grew from other special potatoes not seeds, and what does chitting mean please.

Re: Free potato kit, just pay 3.99 p&P
The potatoes you use to plant out are called 'seed' Billie, they are actual spuds which are held over from previous year. Chitting is when you stand them in a tray or similar and leave them to produce shoots (like you get on spuds sometimes when you have them for too long). These shoots are the new plants, you put the whole thing in the ground and fingers crossed get lots of new spuds - yum!

The answer is yes, Billie - I've grown them like that before, as we don't have room to grow the amount of potatoes they sell as seed potatoes. In fact, you can cut up the potato: each bit with a sprout on it will form a new plant.

Billie we did some in a big plant pot last year that had sprouted in the cupboard and had lots of lovely little potatoes.

Re: Free potato kit, just pay 3.99 p&P
Potatoes like a fairly deep container and also improve if you can earth them up (keep adding some soil to the top as they grow). I think you could probably do it with a growbag, Billie, by standing it on its end, cutting off the top and removing some of the compost before you plant the potatoes. Then use what you've taken out for the earthing up. But if you've got an old dustbin you don't use, you can grow them in that.

I found a large plant pot at the back of my shed so I'm gonna use that for my spuds.

Re: Free potato kit, just pay 3.99 p&P
jo, if that kit comes with a grow bag, why do you need compost too? just as fertiliser?
I have grown spuds before..they are easy peasy.. i left some to chit...but they went wrinkly and green in the kitchen...yuk. so they have gone into the compost bin..

Think it's just the bag to grow them in - bit like a very thin plastic bucket. You have to fill it with compost.

Rosie found ours today sat on top of the porch!! I don't know how long they had been there and its not the first time postman has done this. He better not do it with Rosies camera I have just ordered for her birthday!!
The bags weren't as big as i THOUGHT. I got some purple sprout seeds, never seen them before.
