Pencil pot
I forgot all about these when I took the LO pics, doh. This was my favourite class at the retreat, so easy and effective and mistakes didn't really matter either. I cut the paper too short on one of the pot faces; you can see at the top of one of the clock pieces it doesn't quite fit, but it didn't matter as we were after a shabby look anyway. Will use this again for sure.

Re: Pencil pot
Oh, excellent, Karelyn - I hope you'll be bringing your pencils in these pots so we can have a look! Is the other one a frame?

Re: Pencil pot
It's just one pot Lynda, I did 2 'sides' in different embossing, yes the other is a piece of chipboard ready to go on a LO.

Re: Pencil pot
Yes frames were an option Maria, it was a great class.
Billie you need some aluminium tape (plumbers use it)
Stick strips of it to paper, emboss with a cutlebug/sizzix then stick to the pot/frame with DST.
The LO they demo'ed, used short pieces about 2" ish long applied over odd chipboard letters. They went round the edges with a paper stump ( like a blunt pencil) to make sure the tape was pushed into the corners. Then we painted it with black acrylic paint and rubbed it off again almost immediately. To remove more paint you could use a babywipe.
That's it, simples.
One lady made a very effective card with just a bugged background and the numbers for the birthday age on a circle of chipboard, so effective. I think that would have made a nice door plaque too.

Re: Pencil pot
You could probably use an embossing tool instead of the paper stump to push the tape into the corners, I would think (always like to use what we've got instead of buying more!). Given me an idea for the wine foils: they would just about fit over chipboard letters.....

Re: Pencil pot
Yes, that would do it if you have one that's not too pointy, liking the wine idea, any excuse eh!

Re: Pencil pot
I have huge numbers of wine foils, Karelyn, because Steve always takes them off carefully and saves them. They do look very good embossed.

These are Fab.
I thought I'd posted on this thread, must have not clicked on send, LOL
Had a look at work for the tape so I could get with my discount, we don't stock it

Re: Pencil pot
Ah, I tried to stick the foil straight onto the frame and found it so difficult. Didnt remember that you stuck it to paper first. Rosie likes the frame I made her but I thought it was naff, lol. Did you cover your frame with tape first karilyn?
Re: Pencil pot
The edges, inner and outer, with plain tape, if that makes sense.

Re: Pencil pot
Yes, how did you get your tape to look so well embossed. there doesn't seem to be any joins. Was the folder very long or something?
Re: Pencil pot
The join is on the edges but I did try to match up the pattern where I could (Above). I think the paint makes it look well embossed.
On the frame I embossed each end and poss diagonally, It might have a 6" folder for that one. I did make those in one piece, I stuck to paper, cut them, then embossed the strips. I'll check I may have slit the middle of the folder and posted the piece through brb...
