Garden and Patio
Well, this is where some pictures will be, providing I stop getting the following error message:

I try from time to time, but it never works: this time, instead of the error message, it's just not responding to the Host It after you've selected your image.

Re: Garden and Patio
I never usually have a problem but it won't work tonight so am thinking gremlins in the works
Re: Garden and Patio
Thought I'd have another try at uploading pictures, and lo and behold it worked!
This is the garden after Trevor had built the three raised beds and the steps up to the top two levels (they're on the right). Some of the rocks we dug out are still there, plus two bags of hardcore:
And this is the new patio - slabs look darker than they usually are, because they're wet:

Just looked at the original photos of your garden to compare; quite a transformation! Love the mix of colours in those shrubs against the back wall.

Re: Garden and Patio
Mostly veg, Kim, although will put some ornamentals in between. Already have a small acer in the middle of the centre bed and have put alpines all along the front edges, hoping they'll trail over the wood and soften the look. Plan to put the runner beans (currently in the big pot on the right) at the front of the right-hand bed, as that side of the garden is edibles anyway (raspberries, apple tree and blackberry) but not decided on the rest. For the time being, have some leeks at the back of the middle bed and spinach at the back of the right bed. The patio stone is known as Indian stone, or Raj stone.
Am a great fan of foliage, Tina, so like to have a lot of different colours: there's something to look at when things aren't in flower.
Yes, Di - amazing that we dug all that lot - and a load more - out of the beds. The big one, on the left of the wall, is huge, not to mention a massive breeze block that's now underneath the bottom step that Trevor built.

Re: Garden and Patio
The street at the back of the garden is Alexandra Way and the one to the back right is Gallowgate: a sort of main road, although we don't get too much noise nuisance from it, strangely. It is quite a nice area, though.
The shrubs in the back bed are fairly well established, as that was the bed we dug over first. The golden yew was here when we came, so it got incorporated into the scheme: the others we planted ourselves, and I put in a couple of favourites (mock orange and the blue-flowered one beginning with C) as well as the black sambucus, a cotinus which I'd wanted for ages, and a few others.

Re: Garden and Patio
This was the thread when we first had the garden terraced:
https://lousloonies.forumotion.com/t4426-new-garden
and above is how it looked when we'd had the raised beds and patio done.
At the moment, it looks like this:
Onions round the edge of all the raised beds; leeks at the back of the middle bed and spinach at the back of the right-hand one, along with the wigwam (slight lob-codded) ready for the runners. The two garden ornaments I made at the workshop are just stuck in the left-hand bed till I decide what to do with them. The alpines I planted last year are just beginning to drape over the edge of the raised beds. The ceanothus sounds like a beehive when you brush past it at the moment! Still got some gaps in the middle bed, so will need some more plants for that.

Re: Garden and Patio
Apparently, lob-codded is a Lancashire term (Steve is a Lancastrian) and means cock-eyed, not straight/level. I like the Norfolk one - on the huh (not sure how to spell that, a bit like saying 'her' but without the 'r').
