A new Princess
We had a lovely night last night and we so chuffed when DD was chosen for the top 5 out of 25 for the Carnival Queen comp, even better when she was then picked in the 2nd place, so she is to be a carnival princess and go on the float in the carnival, let's hope it's a good one.
]
We were so proud of her, the comp was at the Marina Theatre and the girls were asked questions by the compere in front of an audience of about 150, some of the girls were obviously nervous and some didn't seem to have thought out what they would say. DD spoke and stood so nicely and gave sensible answers, I'm sure she was the youngest there, at 15, but she did us proud.
When they'd been through all the girls, some had danced and another sang, some had entered before and I thought they would get through as they were giving it all they'd got to entertain, but whatever the judges were looking for that wasn't it. They got the last 5 up there and DD was the first to be asked the final question and she gave a really good answer, but then so did all the others, they called the first runner up who was an older girl who seemed really interesting, the sort you could chat to easily, that left 4 and I thought that one of our ex pupils would get through, she's now studying at Cambridge, and is very pretty too, but sadly she was one of the 2 that didn't get a place. The next name they called was our DD, the three of us were nearly in tears. Afterwards she came back into the main theatre and said, Mum can you come and help me with my prizes, I can't carry them all. She got 4 legoland tickets, 2 tickets for our local theme park; Plesurewood hills, a photo framed worth £60, I guess she'll chose one from the photo shoot we had, 3 lovely boxes of posh toiletries, very nice boxes too, we were both stroking the velvet ribbon round one of them LOL, a tanning voucher, 2 x £25 vouchers for frock shops, a voucher for bar meals at the hotel next to my school. phew!
We're not entirely sure what her duties will be yet, but we think she'll be in 2 carnivals and at the hospital fete in Sept.

Re: A new Princess
re the dress, it was/is mine, I bought it pre owned from a frock shop in Bungay a few years ago for one of my brother's mess do's. The colour wasn't really in then but I love it and I got it very cheap,about £20 I think, I had to take it in a good bit on the sides to fit DD, but I think it looks gorgeous on her, had to put the ribbon on for the halter neck as she's not happy with straplesss.

No, I'm not putting my 'to do' list here, that would be far to organised, PLUS I would have to keep it up to date
Re: A new Princess
DD says "Thank you, that's so nice of you all. I have enjoyed it all so far, especially spending my vouchers. LOL I felt really pretty wearing the dress."
