Lovely, Steph. Gorgeous colours.
I called mine a Tri-Fold. I wonder how many different names there are for different cards, lol?

Re: Shutter card (Christmas)
i thought it looked familiar , i think they must have regional names just like meals etc . its a lovely card steph , it does look a bit complex though i must agree , all that precision for the cutting of the papers etc

Re: Shutter card (Christmas)
That's really effective, Steph, and I love all the different blocks (quite into block designs). But is it really all that complicated? Just looks like four folds and two cuts - it's the re-folding to get the different bits pointing one way or t'other that I imagine is a bit fiddly. Rather like folding up some of those brochures that fold this way and that and you can never work out which way it should go.

Re: Shutter card (Christmas)
I have to be honest and say I didn't cut the card. I found it when I was sorting
all my craft stuff out to go into the Tardis. I would imagine it would be
very awkward, well not so much awkward, but precise. I added all the design bits.
The main Poinsetia is lightly decopaged (3 layers) and the poinsetia card on
silver was an A4 sheet. The Merry Christmas bit was left over from something else.
If anyone sees any of these already cut for sale,I would be very interested. Took a long time
but it is very effective.

Re: Shutter card (Christmas)
This would be one of those cards that you could set up a conveyor belt on, Steph: once you know that you need so many rectangles at such-and-such a size, and so on, you could cut a load at once. It would certainly make the recipients think "wow!".

Re: Shutter card (Christmas)
Looking again, I would say take a rectangle of card (probably A4)and fold it in thirds. Then fold the first third and last third in half. Cut between the first fold and the last fold about 2" from the top and then again 2" from the bottom. Then manipulate the folds so they're as shown in your example. Decorate.

Re: Shutter card (Christmas)
Lovely card Steph & dont blame you want pre-cut cards, think I'd get well and truley confused trying to do it myself!
Re: Shutter card (Christmas)
create and craft sell the card but they are sold out at the mo and cardcraft plus also do them.
http://www.cardcraftplus.co.uk/cgi-bin/sh000001.pl?REFPAGE=http%3a%2f%2fwww%2ecardcraftplus%2eco%2euk%2facatalog%2fCard_Blanks%2ehtml&WD=kinetic&PN=Kinetic_Christmas_Cards%2ehtml%23aKCC01#aKCC01

Re: Shutter card (Christmas)
Jane - thanks for that link. Gosh they are pricey at £1.50 each to
perhaps I'll have a go myself. I know you get all the bits and pieces with those but
I would rather add my own .

Re: Shutter card (Christmas)
Had a play this afternoon and made up a basic template. Made with A4 card (you may have to tweak side panel width as card not always exact size by just a few mms)
dotted lines are scored and complete line is cut, fold are marked V (valley fold) or M (mountain).
You can easily adjust depth of top and bottom strips to make them narrower.
this is how it looks partially done
Just realised the card is upside down comparing folds to template, imagine it other way up lol.
Hope this helps give idea of how its done, quite easy after first one!

Well done Di. That looks ideal. I will have a go later in the week.
I think it's a really impressive card when decorated/embellished.

Re: Shutter card (Christmas)
Will have a go at scaling down to A5 card later, should work if the card is not too thick.

Re: Shutter card (Christmas)
A5 version, used light weight card to make base shape.
As before, score on dotted line, cut full line.
and the two together for comparison
