I'd already got some card and paper out for her, plus a stamp. With guidance and explaining what to do next she cut all the papers, taped and stuck down. Stamped and coloured image, cut out both hearts (not easy for her as she not a good cutter), cuttlebugged the strip, stuck the ribbon down and decided on the placing.

I think she did brilliantly, and she very proud of herself.

We just have to make more effort to get up here together. I told her yesterday that she can use anything but first she has to think of a design and I will help her put colours together etc. Then once she's been at it a while and knows what she wants to do then she will be able to do it all herself. Mmmm not sure I want her messing my strokable stash up !!!! Mr Green Mr Green

And get her to tidy up after. Lauren is terrible for putting things away
and even worse for putting tops on pens, glue etc. I've told her she's
not using anything if she doesn't start looking after it.

Friday night we did some encaustic artand they both did several postcards.
Then I showed Lauren how to emboss with stamping and powders. She
loved that.

I've never done encaustic art, though its something I'd love to see done. Lily is actually a good tidier, (except for her bedroom) , but I do have to remind some of the basic stuff. She will clear the living room coffee table for me, and most of it to the right places. The stuff she doesn't know just goes on another top somewhere!!!

Ooo I love heat embossing and although I've shown Lily how it works, it may be a while before she does it. Though I suppose its all about practice. She wouldn't be allowed to use it without me being there anyway.

Thanks Ruth, she loves that everyone is commenting on her work. She was really cute to watch doing this too. Turned the edges over on the DST to show tails at the side.....then lined the BG paper up reallly well before sticking. Each thing she was going to stick though she would ask, ''there mummy'' and I kept saying, its where you want darling, only thing I really did was the ribbon but she did all the embossing etc.

karin get lily a box of her own and put all your scraps and free samples from mags etc in it and then she can use her own stuff and not your precious papers etc . a fab way of getting rid of your scraps without actually throwing them away and no arguments about that she uses .

Post by karinlouise Thu 4 Feb 2010 - 10:43

I did start to do that Kim, but the drawer set she uses has got a lot of other stuff in too and so I've kind of avoided it. I think I might just have to have another sort of her stuff and like you say put my scraps in. I always keep them in a tray so she can always dig in if need be.

Turns out Martin not going to the auto fair he usually goes to first saturday of each month as the organisers have cancelled it, it means that Lily and I are going to have to be sneaky doing his cake....plus I wanted craft time with her again. Might take a few of the mags downstairs and let her choose something before then.

Thanks kim.
