Gordon Brown Empty Gordon Brown

Gordon Brown was visiting a local primary school class who were learning about
words and their meanings, the teacher asked if he would like to lead a
discussion on the word "tragedy" so our illustrious leader asked for examples of
a tragedy
One little boy said "if my best friend who lives on a farm is run
over by a tractor and killed that would be a tragedy"
"No" says Gordon "that
would be an accident"
A little girl raises her hand "if a school bus carrying
50 children drove over a cliff that would be a tragedy"
"No" says Gordon
"that's what we call a great loss"
The class went silent finally Gordon asks
" isn't there someone here who can give me an example of tragedy"
Finally at
the back of the room little Johnny raises his hand......
In a quite voice he
says "if a plane carrying you and Mr darling was struck by a friendly fire
missile and blown to smithereens that would be a tragedy"
"Fantastic"
exclaimed Gordon " that's right, and can you tell me why that would be a
tragedy?"
"Well says little Johnny " it has to be a tragedy because it
certainly wouldn't be a great loss and it probably wouldn't be an accident
either!
