The torch Empty The torch

Post by thriftycrafter Thu 5 Jul 2012 - 17:34

I was baking when we set off down the prom this morning and we sat waiting in the pedestrian precinct, there were clowns and entertainers, a lovely atmosphere. I nipped into M&S to buy a drink and came out with a hat too.
There were lots of police outriders who were high fiving the kids as they passed, one of our teachers was interviewed on the local radio. The torch went past really quickly of course but we got a good look, then we had one of the bearers come into school to show us the torch and we all had our pics taken with it, I should have got the one I made out to see if he could spot the difference LOL.
They predicted rain but it was really summery.
I blanked out the slide, a few kids and a dinner lady, here I am on the field.

That's a couple of good pics to make a layout. Was the torch very heavy?

Great pictures, you can see it's heavy, as the muscle in that arm is very tensed.

LOL I was going to say it's not very heavy, but you wouldn't want to carry it for miles. It would have had a gas canister in it too which would add a bit of weight. It has 8000 holes which would lighten it, but you'd be so bouyed up you'd manage it, and they could change hands if they wanted. A couple of pounds I guess. Will get back to you if I find the actual weight, the kids have done all sorts of research.
Lighter than your average handbag anyway.

I went to the torch relay today as it passed within 100 yards of my house! Mind you .... look at this - look at the thumbnails under the main BBC cloud picture - the sixth one along!!!! All you could see was rain, rain, puddles, rain, umbrellas, wellies, rain, puddles ... need I say more?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18739065

Karelyn - could you possibly email me the photo of the actual torch so I can include it on may layout, as I couldn't get a photo for the rain!!!! Thanks very much (in anticipation!)

Oh yuk, not much evidence of the flame there. Good old Brits though, not going to stop us celebrating with a bit of liquid sunshine!
Sorry you didn't have our lovely weather.
Of course I will email Patty...
