SECRET SANTA 2014

We haven't done many swaps this year, so it would be lovely to keep up the Secret Santa tradition.

I will PM you with the name of your Secret Santa recipient and, in good time for Christmas, you'll send them a parcel containing a gift or gifts to the value of £7.50; a handmade item (in any medium, doesn't have to be papercrafts); and a Christmas card saying who the gift is from.  No gifts or cards to be opened until Christmas Day.

Does anyone think we should increase the gift value, or would people rather keep it at £7.50?

This is a good time to update your Likes and Dislikes post - especially if you now have any problems with certains foods, toiletries etc.

Sign up by November 27th.

I will PM you with the recipient's name on November 28th.

Parcels to be sent by 15th December.

A thread will be opened in the Swaps gallery for you to post pictures of your gifts.

Lynda, someone on another forum mentioned THIS; you can enter your secret santa list and even the organiser doesn't know who has who. Not sure how it works, but maybe worth a look?

Had a look, Tina, and I know they say that you can exclude certain combinations, but it could get to be a performance putting all those in as we like to avoid people sending to those they've done over the last few years. Plus they want my e-mail address and they'd obviously want everyone else's (because they'd need to communicate with whoever is sending to the organiser without my knowing who): I'm not too happy about handing these out and I'd have to get everyone else's permission, too.

Hi Lynda, really sorry to mess you all around but I'm going to have to pull out of this swap. I didn't read the sign up details properly, specifically the fact that we wouldn't hear about swappee until 1st December. I'm away next weekend, so would only have had this weekend to make something. Sorry to mess things up. Will try and join in again next year.

That's a shame, Tina - I only put it at 1st December for the names because we were so late starting and I didn't want anyone to miss out. Is there no way you could make something that would suit everyone on the list - thinking of your gorgeous beads there: I reckon most of us would kill to have a couple of those!

Lynda not in a position to PM at the moment, I'm afraid - trying to get all the PlusNet stuff sorted out and need to go through the last few years' SS to see who sent to what so I don't repeat the senders and receivers too much! Will see if I can do that in time for the weekend and at least let Tina know: my first reaction was that the quickest way was for her to send to me, but she did that last year so not such a good idea.

Right. Having had my brain frazzled trying to work out how we log on to get our e-mails, I have given up for the night before I become a gibbering wreck and gone through the last four years' SS to see who sent to whom. I've sorted out who Tina will send to and will PM her with the name: will do the rest of the list asap, but would ask that anyone who wants to be included could they please sign up by tomorrow at the latest. That will give me Friday to do the list.

Nope! I'm really sorry, it's the first time ever I've not joined in, but I just can't get all my stuff out to make something. There's so much crammed into so many boxes and spaces it would be a nightmare.

But you could make something from fabric rather than paper, Lorraine - it doesn't have to be papercrafts? A nice scarf from some left-over fabric, a bag, a tote, make-up or washbag, shoebag: lots of things you could make from fabric without needing anyone's dress size. In the last couple of years I've had a quilted piece from Tina and a beaded bracelet from Alison, neither of which were papercraft. Can't believe you won't be joining in: this is the fewest we've had for SS in the last few years, too.
