Embroideries Empty Embroideries

Post by lyndaejane Tue 6 Jan 2015 - 19:29

Steve took a load of 'photos for me before we put all my embroidered Christmas stuff away: sorry to any who are fed up with the thought of Christmas, but did think you might like to see them:

This is quite a small one: some cross stitch, with other counted thread stitches, and a silver holly charm, which has tarnished over the years. Stitched on linen. The frame is a deep red colour.

I'll only put up one picture a day - but I do have about two dozen!

That's really lovely Lynda. Have you done them all yourself?

Steve only took pictures of the ones I've done, Lorraine, although I have quite a few more ornaments and one more framed piece made for me by friends.

When I was heavily into embroidery (late 80s and the 90s) I just stitched away, Alison. I have a few pieces which are on display all the time and some that come out seasonally, but most are Christmas ones.

I LIKE that.
Is it behind glass/removable glass? I discovered this year that silver can be cleaned with an eraser, and it's very effective, worth a quick once over if you can get to it. Saves using wet polish and potentially messing up the fabric/work.

No, Karelyn: I never put my embroideries behind glass and I never put anything at the back, either. It allows the fabric to breathe. Interesting that tip about the eraser: hope I remember it by the time I get them all out next year!
