Friendly plastic

I had a whole day whilst Ken was sleeping so did loads of different bits and bobs. These are a few of the shrink plastic embellies I made. Some have a hole in so will have wires and beads added as "danglies".

I especially like the one on the top right, but they are all lovely!

How pretty they are. I have a pack of shrink plastic somewhere.
I have never tried it. I should do it when the grandkids are here
as they would love it - fascinate them for a little while.

Yes Steph, I believe you can use hot water instead of the heat gun - though it's so long since I had kids that I don't really know which would be worse!!!! It is a lovely thing to play about with though - I had such fun.

Friendly plastic comes in different coloured strips that you cut up and melt together either in a pattern or in a muddle. When you heat it, it melts and sometimes it changes colour slightly and then you can stamp in it, draw in it, add beads, wire etc and shape it. It is good fun to use as you can just muck around with it and I have been using some to make ATC's.

they are yummy patty , i bought a couple of strips of this while in devon a few yrs ago and never did know what to do with it , i bought them because i liked the colours

Well Kim, cut it into bits (about 2" or so) and then pop them all edge to edge on your heat mat and heat them with a heat gun and then squiggle a cocktail stick across the "joins" to drag one colour through another ... then let it cool and see how pretty it all looks. Lovely fun to play with!

I like the top left one best. Never used shrink plastic, but it does seem to produce some good results. Mustn't buy anything else!

you can buy special tools and special stamps to use with it too..i love it x

I prefer this friendly plastic to shrink plastic and you can just stamp any old wooden backed stamp onto Versamark, then imprint it into the friendly plastic whilst it is hot and runny.

One day - just one day - you and I will have a crafting session here together Lynda!! (Just don't hold your breath for a while, will you??)

Just read back what I put and realised I said "shrink" when I meant "friendly" - too tired, I guess!

It all sounds great fun. Another thing to add to my ever growing 'to do'
list.

They're lovely you did have fun, I do need to be a bit more creative when I use it, I've only ever stamped into it.
