CJ CHAT - Page 6 Empty Re: CJ CHAT

Post by Maria Sat 16 Jan 2010 - 19:02

Im having a problem... Im finished and ready to send, BUT (and its a huge but). I made the covers bigger than the actual pages, which has led to several problems such as a Heath Robinson affair with the treasury tags, but the main problem is it doesnt fit in the box I had saved. (a wine box). I talked twiz into giving me a shoe box from his garage, and he grumbled a bit but did.... and it doesnt fit in that either... the width is the problem, its 7 inches square. I can get it in the shoe box or the wine box sort of on the diagonal but that wont work when it gets any thicker so I cant do that.

Any ideas anyone? I mean a cereal box wont be strong enough or have the height - I could make one out of two of those but no way would it be strong enough. Would a jiffy bag work - or too difficult for the next person to send on I imagine....

Ive looked in the loft, nothing suitable there either. Im pulling my hair out here....

Can't you wrap it in card then paper and send it that way ?
I'm sure Tina wouldn't mind. I bet she's got loads of boxes with COFFEE
written on the side that she can send it on its journey in.

Otherwise you'll have to start all over again and make it smaller. CJ CHAT - Page 6 528403 CJ CHAT - Page 6 528403

Jiffy bags are usually good, you see, I got it the right way round, I've got the box but not even thought about making the cj yet LOL
If you have room for more bubble wrap it should be fine.
Quite often they are re-boxed/packaged on the way round anyway, so you never know someone might have the perfect box for it.

I have to throw some empty boxes out, there were just too many on the top shelf oin the craft room, but which do I lose. This has to go in mty cj; habits, hoarding.

Maria, Steph is right, funnily enough CJ CHAT - Page 6 Icon_lol . I'm more than happy to repackage it; just get it to me whichever way you can.

Talking of posting on, I now have franked mail (via work); is everyone okay for me to send CJ's franked rather than recorded delivery? If anyone isn't, and would prefer it recorded, please let me know, and I'll oblige.

(I'm going to send mine franked; we send between 150 and 300 packages a week for work via PD sorting office, and haven't had one go astray yet).

I did the CJs last year and I never sent by rec delivery. Den has to take
the post when he gets the papers so he can only drop parcels in the
post bag hanging inside the PO as that side of the shop isn't open,
and I never had one go missing. I always make sure it's clearly marked
that it is craft items inside.

Oh thats great Tina... I can make something up with adapting the wine box and cardboard if its only got to do the one trip. It was making something that was re-openable that was the problem.

I will be sending the parcels 'economique' and they will take a week each time (or they did last year).

Steph, I am concerned that you will be paying much more postage than the others...(well apart from me, but its my own fault for being here) I feel I ought to make a contribution.

I told Lorraine either last year or for this CJ that i was quite willing to
post to France so please do not worry Maria. I am perfectly happy
about it.

Tina, if its ok with you I will post this when i am in town on Wednesday, and you can keep it until the 1st. We have no idea how long post between us takes and the card I sent Di took longer than a week recently, because of all the delays. I will be cross if I dont post it and then it turns out to take 2 weeks or something.

Will you mind if I do that?

I've made a good start on my entry, I'm just going to get some bigger book rings for the album. I'm looking forward to the start, I think I get Sue's CJ first about my handbag which I haven't sorted out in a while so then will be a good time to do it.

im in a panic with mine ,i was real pleased with it ,then on wednesday night I thought id give the covers a coating of diamond glaze ,so they were protected with all the handling they will get over the next year ,so off i went with the dg and a foam brush ,,,,and its gone curly at the edges ,and the card covers have seperated and its gone all streaky ,so im going to send it on its rounds with these covers and then make it some new ones when its on its way round and change them when i put the book rings and finishing touches to it . well my one from last year is one of my very best possesions I have to say.

Im travelling mine on tresury tags too until it gets home but what with the cock up on the covers (must be catching) I have had to lengthen them with string.

I am really looking forward to doing some of these but daunted at the same time.

Well, I have to be honest here - originally I planned 8 x 8 and actually
put that on the thread. But I forgot that and simply went ahead and
did my A5 size. Thinking about it now, I think 8 x 8 might have been on the
big side.
