Re: Aidan.
He's a lovely little boy, that cleft should be easy to sort as its only his lip not the nose as well.

Awww lou he is gorgeous! Doesnt Mia look grown up now
Thats a lovely pic of you with him.
My niece was born with hair/air (sp) lip, the surgeons are so good at fixing them, the scars are hardly noticable now and she is 17.

Re: Aidan.
Thanks, girls.
Carol, Nic and Jonny have complete faith in Aidan's surgeon after seeing before and after pics.
He's looking more gorgeous every day. His colouring is lovely, quite dark skinned with dark hair, his puffy cheeks have gone and he's lost some of his birth weight although he's maintaining now. He's 8.7 and taking his feeds really well. He's on target for what the specialist needs him to be taking. He's just had 70ml and needs to be on 100ml by the end of the first week.

Re: Aidan.
Here you go. Happily wrapped up in his swaddling cloth. He's in his moses basket that I actually bought for Mia. He has to have a rolled towel behind him as he needs to be kept on his side.
He looks like he's laughing in this one.

Oh my look at his eyes, so clear. And yes he does look as though he's laughing. Probably thinking, 'here comes gran again with that blinking flashy thing....might as well laugh for the flashy thing'

Re: Aidan.
A lot of babies could be anything, but he's certainly a little lad, he's going to break some hearts. I have a bit of a thing for big brown eyes.

Re: Aidan.
Oh Lorraine you must be such a proud Grandma! He is so very much a boy - no chance of being taken for a little girl there then!! Mia looks just like my Mia did when she got her first glimpse of Tim - and believe me, that love and protection has continued for the past 42 years (and long may it do so!!!) You must all be so happy with him.

Re: Aidan.
Yes, he does look like a boy, doesn't he?
Been told today that his surgery won't be over and done with as quickly as we'd hoped. They will still be doing his lips around the beginning of May but there is now 6 months between surgeries. However, the surgeon doesn't operate on babies during the winter months (due to increased risk of infection) so Aidan's palate won't be done until next March.
By then he'll be 14 months old and very much more aware of his surroundings and knowing he's in pain. I wish they'd get him done while he's still small, even though I know that they know best. Poor little soul.

Re: Aidan.
Oh bummer. The only good thing I can say that having had a small one who had surgery when she was little (Rachel had a hernia, as did her little friend Richard), they do recover incredibly quickly from surgery. I wonder if it's because they don't know any different, but both of them bounced back very quickly, and healed far quicker than a grown-up would.
He's still gorgeous anyway!

No, I'm not putting my 'to do' list here, that would be far to organised, PLUS I would have to keep it up to date
Re: Aidan.
That does seem like a long wait, but I suppose it will also give him chance to grow a bit too, I'm thinking the bigger they are the easier it's going to be to operate.

Re: Aidan.
im sure you would rather he wait for it to be done than to risk getting an infection lorraine and as all have said ,they will do everything they can to put him right , and they do know best .They would not delay things knowing a problem may occur so it must be ok to do this and for the best of little one !

Aw bless him, poor love. Just the thought of even one operation would send me into panic, my heart goes out to you all, can only imagine the worry over it all.

Re: Aidan.
I wonder why there is a higher risk of infection in winter months.
You'd have thought it would be the other way round.
But as everyone else has said, the doctors know best.
Bless him.
