Embroideries - WARNING! Seasonal subjects!

Sorry: just happens that they're mostly ornaments and stuff that I'm finishing off!



Top one is an ornament (hanger cord made with variegated red/black embroidery threads), bottom one is a brooch. Mixture of cross-stitch and beads, made from kits.

Could you make two? I'd love to buy one of those for a friend who loves Christmas jewellery but usually you can only get tat.

Ooh, dear: wouldn't know what to charge! Although it's not big, there's a lot of work in it, especially all the looped strings of beads. Will have a think: might be able to find something that takes a fewer less hours, maybe?

Lovely, Is this something that you could get ready in kit form and take into hospital with you lynda, or just sit and do when you can after your home.

Think it needs a bit too much concentration for hospital, Alison: have a pattern for an ornament with a tree and the word 'pine' on it, all done in cross stitch in a single green colour, which I think would be easy to do - provided I don't pick a fine count linen to do it on!

Do you stitch on linen Lynda? It's something I never mastered.

Yes, Lorraine: 32 or 36 count and I think I've gone finer than that once or twice. Much prefer it to Aida.

Clever you. I couldn't do it now even if I wanted to mind, my eyes are shot lol.

Have to admit that I'm finding the smaller counts a bit difficult, Lorraine: having to use the round-the-neck magnifier!

Will be adding to this, Karelyn, as I've a load of ornaments that I'd embroidered and not made up. Am in the process of sewing them to their backing fabric and adding hangers etc: if it hadn't been so hot when I went up into the loft just now to get a box to send the in-laws birthday presents, I'd have dug out the wadding and stuffing for them.
