Christmas ornaments Empty Christmas ornaments

Post by lyndaejane Sat 10 Dec 2022 - 11:18

This is a sample of the ornaments I made this Christmas.  Eight altogether, although some are similar so have only posted a selection.  Virtually all are different sizes and have different papers round the sides/edges/back.

I have been wanting to do this for years and have been slowly collecting empty chocolate boxes, the type that has the 'frame' round the chocolate section.  Really has been a labour of love, not helped by the posties going on strike and my having to make the six UK-based ones in a hurry before the revised Last Posting Date.  For those which needed covering on all surfaces, which is most of them, it took over two hours per box.

You can't really see it, but the bell-tower on the church has a tiny brass-coloured bell in it, which I found in my stash:

They are fitted with a string of 10 LEDs on thin copper wire, so they all light up - afraid the lights fooled the camera, so this is one of the ones that went to the US, where I only photographed them lit up:

These are the Tim Holtz paper village dies from last year, but I had to tailor the depth of them so that they would fit inside the frame.

No, I'm not putting my 'to do' list here, that would be far to organised, PLUS I would have to keep it up to date  Laughing

Thanks girls. Think I've got a bit maudlin over the last few years, suppose it's only natural with all we've been dealing with, so I decided that just in case I never got to make ornaments for my friends again, I'd make it a good one this year.

Thanks, Karelyn - I, too, have a thing for little houses. Have heard from two people so far who have received theirs, both impressed!

This is my final ornament.  Built on a white, shallow box base, think it probably had an acetate lid, can't remember where it came from, people just give me stuff like that.  Just high enough to take one of those floating LED tealights: hole in the bottom and you just place the house over it once you've turned on the tealight.

This is a full-size Tim Holtz cottage, didn't have to make it shallower, with the roof tiles and chimney, and the porch roof. Door wreath is made from dark green 2mm pearls stuck round a tiny die-cut circle of white card, then mini star gems on top for the red. There are also tiny gold stars on the top of the trees as well. Added some glitter to the snow this time and put it on the top of the roof, chimney and porch as well. This one is by hand to friend May.
