I've been doing a 'Tim Holtz' and playing with my distress ink pads.
Watches were just blended and stamped.
The big one was blended, spritzed and more blending. Image was stamped with fired brick, perfect pearls rubbed on and off, then spritzed with water again to slightly spread the stamped image. Then I overstamped in black to give a double image.
Little one blended, stamped and spritzed.
I have to say, I'm quite pleased with these.

Re: Distress Tags
cor, so you should be these are ACE!!! are you gonna stick em in your lovely new book? Its lovely to see you making stuff in your own proper style again (as opposed to the cute phase) and lovely to see you playing and making stuff full stop.
I like them all, middle one my fave I suppose (because i cant bear to have a 3 way tie.
can you give more details about the blending. Like on the watches, how exactly do you get it so nice and mottley but even. It doesnt look like that when I do it. so how exactly do you do the blending?

The watches are for a page in my journal.
Maria, I use cut and dry foam or sponge daubers to do my blending. This time I worked on my silicone sheet too 'cause of the spritzing so the ink spreads. To blend I start from the actual sheet and in circular movements bring the ink onto the tags. Go over it with whatever colours you want. The watches have Tea Dye, Stained Walnut and Black Soot. When you add extra ink to the centre, just be gentle and then you have no harsh lines. The spritzing (and also a fairly porous cardstock/tag) will give you the mottled effect.

Re: Distress Tags
ok, but do you use the cut and dry foam flat, or at 45 degrees or what? Mine is always alot , well, less blended and more on or off than that.

Ummmm, well, I don't know really. I have a piece about the size of two postage stamps, and hold it so that my index finger pushes it down, so it bends a little. I suppose flat and at an angle, Maria. lol.
Doesn't help much does it, ha, ha.
I'm quite firm with my touch too.

Re: Distress Tags
Not surprised you're pleased with them, Lou - they're gorgeous!
Maria - if you find you get too much ink, how about trying a technique we were taught by Leandra (of PaperArtsy)? She taught us to stipple colours, using brushes like stencil brushes (you can buy the cheapie ones for kids). Pick up the ink on the brush, do a test stipple on scrap, then stipple onto the piece. You can also swoosh the brush over it when the bristles are drier. Start with the lightest colour and build up to the darkest.

I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are in alphabetical order, just like they should be.

Re: Distress Tags
They are lovely, not got the slightest idea what you're talking about, is it the backgrounds that are blended rather than the stamping, derr. That would kind of make sense.
My vote goes for the 3rd one first.
I think I need this in my lesson on AI

Love them all, I have just bought some cut and dry foam and a couple of Distress pads to have a play - will take some practise me thinks!

Absolutely gorgeous work, Lorraine! Love those dark, dusky, grungy colours. Right up my street, they are!
