Here's February's swap, girls. Soz, I forgot you were supposed to get the last week of the month for sign up so you can have a few extra days. Ooops

So, obviously, I want you to texture a complete alphabet PLUS some extra vowels and other letters if you want.

You may use a ready made alphabet and add something to it to texture it, or you may cut your own and texture them how you please. Microbeads, Cuttlebug, Heat embossing...for examples. Colours and decoration however you want, but they must have a texture.

Sign up by 3rd February...alpha's to me by 27th Feb.

Please don't forget your return postage.

Signed up:

Jo - Rx
Patty - Rx
Maria - Rx
Kim - Rx

Ooo this sounds a bit of a big job, count me in then Mr Green

Think I'm bound to have an alphabet somewhere in my alphabet drawer !!!

How many extra vowels do you think. Is it a straight swap so doesn't matter, or are you sorting individual letters to different people (too big a job).

Also, does each letter have to be different texture or can it all be the same.

Questions I know, but I don't like getting it wrong, you know me !!!

However many vowels you want/can do, Karin.

As to splitting the alpha's, I don't think so. I think most people would prefer a matching set. BUT....I might be wrong, so you all tell me what you'd prefer. Mr Green

Soz. Cross posted, Karin. I deleted my post...it wasn't very helpful was it? lol!

If you are quite happy with an alphabet that is textured with Cuttlebug, I think I could manage this as don't have to have any inspiration, lol.

Definately a matching set. I have a box with compartments in with off letters.
When we use the alphabet, perhaps we can post a photo of what we did.

Great. Mr Green
Matching sets it will be. It would have been anyway I think, but best ask.

Kim, I'll know what the extras are when I see them, hun. Hopefully a few of us will do the extras so Maria will get what she needs, but....maybe not. Wink

It's strange, because it definitely cuts chipboard. Perhaps you need A plus only one B if you are using an embossing folder too? I will give it a go with a very old one my brother cut me from some polycarbon stuff he had spare.

Post by kimb Thu 28 Jan 2010 - 20:36

funny thing is id just run one chipboard alpha button through it and it did it ok , then the second one it went with a right crack .
lorraine i use the c plate for the second stage of the nesties embossing mainly , but id had a play with the b's and c's and rubber mats to take these things through and the b plate was not thick enough so i used c . cant understand why it worked once then broke the second time , and its not a well used one really ,hardly had any use infact so cant say it was ready to go .
c plate is also useful for when you use other brands folders and dies in the bug .
right ,got to go order anew one

i have managed to stick it together with diamond glaze but i dont know if it will go through bug well or not

I'm dithering...I don't have any texture plates, but I did uncover the sort of thing that I would use for 'texture' whilst I was rooting around the other night. I just need to have a little play over the weekend (if I get any crafting time!). If it works, I'll be a definite 'yes'.

Thinking about this one too as also don't have any texture plates. Only have a sidekick and don't think they do them to fit this. Have got 4 alphabets though so if can find something to do with them will be joining too.

If I read it right we don't have to put them through a machine. You could maybe add some wire, or beads or even fabric. I don't know what I'm doing yet, but I think as long as its touchy feely thats the texture. Am I right Lorraine?

Yes, that's what the swap is; but I still need to know I can achieve the texture I want before signing up. It wouldn't be very interesting if we all used texture plates anyway TEXTURED ALPHABET SWAP - Feb 2010 Icon_lol ; the whole point is that we are creative I think.

That's how I read it Karin. Surely they don't just have to be embossed or
debossed. There are other ways of texturising. Not sure what I am going
to do yet.
