second try!!!! Very Happy

This was made with wire and hammering/planishing it. Martin found me a block and hammer from his tools, polished them up and let me have them. He bought me a book for christmas about wire jewellry, some of it will never do, but the block and hammer lets me do bits LOL

This one I found a free tutorial on Flat Spiral and couldn't wait to have a go. i really like it, will have to make a couple in different colours for my selling box. Thats if they sell....

I love that wire one - it seems somehow sort of "Indian" or perhaps that is just the elephant!!

Both great, Karin: love the wire one especially, as I want to do "flat" wire myself - thinking of having an anvil for Christmas (still haven't decided what I want from Steve for Christmas just gone). Would think the Flat Spiral ones would sell, they're so pretty.

Lynda, all I had/have is a 4inch square metal block about inch half deep. And a normal ball pein hammer.

I then created the sprial, laid it on the block and bashed it LOL....ok I gently banged it. I actually looked up youtube how to info because i was worried about how hard to hit it. You tube is great for most things.

I'm going to have a go at making a few more and some smaller thinner ones with different beads for children to wear.

I'd heard you could use any metal block, Karin - but as we don't have such a thing, I might as well have the anvil! They're not too expensive, anyhow.

Both lovely, but the wire one especially so.

Lynda, you can get great little portable jeweller's bench blocks from Palmer Metals, ideal for taking to classes.

Oh Tina, where were you the other day LOL......I searched for blocks and found a few that were so so expensive, hence martin going and finding me his old block and sanding it down.....so it shone.

Have just looked at Palmer and seen one, might have to keep that in reserve if I decided to do more of this.

Also seen they are at the bead fair at Harrogate in March....which I am already going to Mr Green they doing classes.

Thanks for the info, Tina: will have a look there. Not sure if I would be taking the block/anvil to classes: we are in a room just off the station concourse which is where the restaurant is - unless I could persuade them to play Wagner's Ring cycle as background music so the diners didn't notice!

fold a bit of corrugated cardboard underneath when you use it, dampens the racket!

I bought a wee anvil a few years ago from our local hardwear shop. Didn't cost much at all so check them out.

Love the wire ones, I am getting into wire again, love working with it. I just got a ring mandrel so can't wait to get started.

Aye i got another mandrel for christmas off martin. I already had a plastic one that ihad to write letters on, but it was grooved and didn't help with the wirework. But martin bought me a wooden one, looks so much easier...not used it yet though. To busy with other beadie stuff.
