Good year for Chillies
Have a glut of them! Going to make some Chilli Chutney and will dry some, also going to try freezing chopped ones ready for winter use.
These are the curly ones in the greenhouse
This pic of all the greenhouse plants, three varieties - you can see how big the curly ones are as the dark purple ones on the right are the usual 2/3/4" size.
and finally my plant in the kitchen

Re: Good year for Chillies
Yep Kim lol, we are partial to a bit of a kick in things.
The curly ones will probably be quite mild as they are so big. The black ones are similar heat to the usual supermarket type while the small red ones pack more of a punch. The kitchen ones will probably be quite warm too as they are fairly small.

Fantastic crop there, Di! Like Cath, I can't eat spicy foods, but you should be well stocked up and the idea of chilli oil for little gifts is a good one.

Re: Good year for Chillies
I've never made the chutney before, came across the recipe online and thought I would give it a try.

Re: Good year for Chillies
What sort are they Di, look fab. I just have skinny green ones at the moment, lol. Have used a few tho. Chutney is easy, I want to do some onion marmalade as have tons.
Re: Good year for Chillies
The large curly ones are Banana chillis, the purple (they do turn red eventually) are Apache. The yellow ones in kitchen are Cayenne if I remember correctly, lost the label. They are quite hot.
Just picked another lot to chop and freeze.
