Basic Grey Magnetic Precision Cutting Mat

This is excellent. I'm well impressed.

The mat is 15 inches square with the centre being 12 inches so perfect for a LO. It comes with a 17 inch magnetic ruler and some little magnets, so you can hold everything in place whilst putting your LO together and sticking things down.

I used it on my Squirrel LO and it was perfect for holding my cut circles exactly where I wanted them.

My only complaint is the magnets. The coating is very thin and the magnets are very strong, so if they attach to themselves, the coating gets chipped off.

Apart from that...tis good.

Have been wondering about getting one of these as have the rimmer and have always been impressed with the strength of the ruler on that but I have three cutting mats so am trying to justify a fourth!

Wow sounds good. Just need a bit more space for it. Have got two desks and no real space on either.

Yes, most of my colleagues in my local club all have these and really swear by them. I have had a go of one too, but already have three cutting mats so certainly couldn't justify a fourth!!

A quick update:

Well...I have to say, having now used this a few times, you GOTTA HAVE ONE!!!!!

I am doing a LO that I have 8 pics to put on. Having no idea how to get them all on, and not wanting a linear LO I had no idea what size to print. Using this mat and plain paper cut into bits I've been able to plan the LO so everything fits. It's saved me a lot of wasted photopaper and ink, as many times, I've had to reprint things. I don't usually plan LO's either, I just go with the flow, but this time I needed a plan.

The other thing I really like about this is that the measurement grid goes beyond the 12 x 12 centre, so even when you've got your cardstock on if you need to measure something, you can still see your grid lines.

if we want to put one on our christmas list, where do we get them, where they are cheapest...and ...gulp...how much?

Sounds great, does it measure in cm or inches?
I love my mat which I think is a quilting cutting mat, it has " on one side and cm on the other and that's so hard to find.
