That's great Kim, surprising what you can do with an unusual subject.

Re: kims challenge #7 artistic photo
WellI love it, love it, love it.
I was very interested in your list there. I read The Moons a Balloon years
ago when I was totally into movies - I'm sure you must have read the
other David Niven book - Bring on the Empty Horses. I love that title
and how it came about. Like you I love the Harry Potters and James
Herriott.

Re: kims challenge #7 artistic photo
i dont think you would like those books dawn , not your type !
steph, i did read bring on the empty horses after id read TMAB but cant remember why it was called ( the title ) . i just remember that i did not like it as much as the first . i still laugh at the part where david niven went for his army medical and thought the officer said
" off " instead of cough !
the james herriotts i read while i was pregnant with jason and spent most of the pregnancy in hospital .i could not even get out of bed for a pee so it was pretty boring , so i just read and read and laughed and laughed , they are so funny in parts .

When they were filming (can't remember which film) the director was Michael
Curtiz and he was foreign (German maybe ?) and they needed bareback
horses for a scene and he shouted 'Bring on the empty horses.'

Meant to add Kim - I used to love the zoo vet books as well but can't
remmeber who wrote them. They were funny as well, as it was new
territory for the vet Donald Turner (can't remember if it was him who
wrote them because I think they were autobiographical)

Re: kims challenge #7 artistic photo
Lovely layout Kim and always so interesting to read other people's choices of books. I want to read that Thousand Splendid Suns but it is always on hold in our local library, so obviously very popular.

They were fun because although he dealt with the normal farm animals and
domestic pets, suddenly he became the zoo vet and the challenges that faced him
there were so different with graffes and elephants etc. and a lot of what he
did was very experimental.
