DI'S BIG PROJECT Empty DI'S BIG PROJECT

Post by Lorraine Sat 30 Aug 2008 - 15:20

Copied and pasted for, Di.

I had an idea. The idea inspired the friendship books, which seemed to work out.
So, to try and explain....
My idea was to create an address book.
You make a page (6x6 is a nice size) with your name, user name, address (plus any other details you want to put, like e-mail, phone number, birthday etc.....)
A little like the permanent ATC swap you would only make 1, maybe 2 pages a month to send to certain people on the list.
The swap would continue until everyone on the list has a full address book.
A little like a CJ, but instead of sending the whole book to be added to, you keep your own book, and just receive new pages to put into it yourself.
As this is a big project, I will leave a big sign up date. But the deadline for sign up will NOT be flexible, as I will have to formulate a list, and figure out how many pages per month to send, and to whom.
Depending on sign up numbers, this project could take a long time to complete, but I would not arrange it so you have to make any more than 3 pages per month.
Please only sign up if you really want a personalised address book, and if you can commit to a long term swap.
Of course there will be flexibilty, because we are all human, and things happen in life that dealy us. So as long as swapees communicate when there are problems, I can't see any major problems with this.

Sign up by end of October.

I'm being a pain ain't I.
Still thinking LOL.
I fancy a go at this, so sign me up please Di.
I think I will make all my pages the same.
I can start to design them and then I ca do a few whenever I get the time untill they are all done.
Rather like the recent 'Retreat' pages that were made.

Thanks for adding me Lorraine

orthoscrub wrote:You are all jumping ahead in leaps and bounds! Believe me, all of these things have been thought about. The friendship book was a sort of practice run for this idea. I have actually been toying with this idea for about a year!
So, to clarify.....
Pages will be 6x6.
Should include your name (real and user name)
Address
Date of birth
Some likes and dislikes.
Can be one or two pages. But if 2 pages, do two separate pages, so if people are sticking onto premade pages they can.
Also should leave about 1.5 - 2 cm down left hand side free of info in case people are using bind it all/book rings.
Wasn't going to go into too much detail yet, but may as well.......
_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Regarding the margins.

If we all kept the same size margin on both sides of our pages, it would allow the receiver to bind them in her book either right or left side.
Or back to back them if they have no info on the backs.

Sorry if I'm being a bit thick, (nothing new there then) but each month we do one or two pages about ourselves and then post them to who ever is on the list to be sent to. Am I right or have I completly missed the plot. Help.

all those still not on the list, no worries, i am keeping a list on paper here! When it gets closer to sign up closing, will start a new thread, with complete lis, and can be used for any swap related chat.
Joy, this will work a little like the permanent ATC swap. When I have the final list, you will start by sending to the person (or 2 people, will be decided when we have final numbers) directly below you on the list. Then just keep going on through the list every month, till we all have nice address books!

That's OK. Are your details on RAKS list? cos I was intending making myself a page for people who aren't joining the swap, but are in Raks.

Well I'm sorry too, Di, but I'm really struggling to get crafting these days (too much going on with work and school and stuff), so I'm afraid I'm going to bow out gracefully before it starts, as I'd hate to let anybody down once it gets going.

Sorry Ooops

I have, Kim. When I listed everything I have to do on a regular basis, I thought I'd be putting myself back under pressure. Wink

The sign up is end of October, so plenty of time for people to drop in/out before final list is made.
I am doing this as a way of getting me back into the craft room. Cos if I HAVE to do something, I will do it! but otherwise, am quite happy to sit downstairs with my cross stitch!

Mmm - it's going to be lacking in some of the main members if Lou and Bobs have
pulled out. It's going to be half an address book isn't it ?

I think we might have to make our own pages on their behalf, so they have no option on the photos we chose to put of them, Laughing we can chose from any we can get hold of, woe betide them, and of course it will be our version of the interesting facts we put down too hehehe
