Dies... Empty Dies...

Post by Scrap Monkey Mon 20 Oct 2014 - 19:03

So, scrapping mojo reignited by my trip at the weekend. Thinking forward to 'that festival', and knowing that I will be asked to provide a wish list forthwith. Don't really need anything, but I do own a Bigshot, so thought maybe a couple of dies, but bit overwhelmed to be honest. Anyone have any recommendations for online die shops, scrapping biased, as I think maybe I won't be making cards all that much? Don't know where to start, usually have a wish list at ATDML, but don't think they sell them..

No, I'm not putting my 'to do' list here, that would be far to organised, PLUS I would have to keep it up to date  Laughing

Cutting Edge crafts have good prices and free postage; also Grafton Crafts (think they may be £1 postage under a certain amount) and Maddylisa Crafts (free with min. purchase of £7.50). All very quick to deliver, too.

If they don't have a wishlist, why not open a new bookmark category on your computer and add any dies you fancy

And you're right: it is overwhelming! Don't know what you've got so far, but - like stamps - only get what you think you can use time and time again. Flowers; flourishes; leaf sprays; nested shapes (ovals, circles - I wouldn't bother with rectangles or squares as they're easy to cut on the trimmer); multi-purpose frames, including nested frames; an alphabet or two. I'm sure others with bigger die collections can come up with many more!

You may find it a lot easier, whilst you're still unwell (please note optimism there) to come up with handmade cards using die cuts to speed the process, Tina. A fairly plain card with the recipient's name in die-cut letters can make a real impact.

I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are in alphabetical order, just like they should be.

Thanks Lynda. food for thought there!

The wishlist bit is fairly critical as I need to send BIL an idiot-proof list; he never knows what he is buying, just chooses how much he wants to spend from a wishlist and buys it! Will have a look at those this afternoon.

Has anyone bought from the Craft Barn recently? I haven't done so for years and I know they were taken over; just wondering if anyone has used them.

I tend to buy for card making so often use Joanna Sheen, wouldn't recommend Dies to Die For but if you want a thorough site full of dies it may be worth having a look.
