Shouldn't think it makes much difference, Ruth. Either way, it's having wax melted round it.
You might get a clearer image on the shiny side though. I can't remember what I used since then.

Yep - use the shiny side if there's a difference (not all paper has a matt and a shiny side) - but overall it doesn't really make a difference. I found that the shiny side blends in better to the shiny surface of the candle too.
