Re: Aidan.
awww he is a good looking little fella! Will be even more handsome once the op is done. Those gorgeous dark eyes are the first thing you notice.

Re: Aidan.
Aidan has gone down to surgery.
It'll be a couple of hours but the 'nurse' told them that if Mr. Henley says 2 hours not to be surprised if it's 3 and not to worry. Apparently, if he's not happy with his stitching, he'll take them out and start again!!!!!!

No, I'm not putting my 'to do' list here, that would be far to organised, PLUS I would have to keep it up to date Â
Re: Aidan.
I'm getting seriously worried now. It's been nearly 4 hours and no news.
Update:
Couldn't wait, so just phoned Nic. He's still in surgery and Nic and Jonny are on the ward waiting. Everything seems to be going OK. The surgeon only has Aidan and one other little boy today, so he's taking his time.

Re: Aidan.
He's just come out.
Nic says he's OK. He's very swollen and has lots of dried blood round his mouth but he's already tried to smile at her. He's very groggy so they have to wait a while to feed him but they need to try the first one while he's still numb so it doesn't hurt him.
They have repaired both sides of his lip and also closed half the palette so more than was expected.
Nic said he looks very different but can't tell exactly what he'll look like due to the swelling.

Oh that's such good news - have just come in and popped on for news. Thinking of you all today and glad they have done his palate too - wonderful what they can do these days, isnt it? xxx

Re: Aidan.
That'll make a big change for him, and yes, good than they did more than expected. What a horrible wait for you all though, those hours are so very long aren't they.
It does sound like you had a good man there working on Aidan though, what a good thing that is.

Re: Aidan.
So glad he is out and that it all went ok ..... and that they did more than they were going to! Hopefully, that will mean the next op on his palate won't be such a 'biggie'.
Can't wait to see what he looks like now, bless him!

Fantastic news, looking forward to seeing his new look, and glad to hear he is still smiley despite what he has been through
Re: Aidan.
Great news that all went well and that they did part of the palate, looking forward to see him with his new mouth.

Re: Aidan.
They've had to feed him by syringe. He did grab his bottle but then would have none of it. Apart from a bit of pain, it's going to feel very different for him now with the lip and palette having changed, so rather than him scream any longer, they got the syringe.
They can't come home until he's done a full 24 hours taking a 75% minimum of his normal feed so Nic is expecting probably Friday. Fingers crossed.
He was very hungry and Nic says he's more settled now he's had something to eat but they will probably continue with the syringe through the night.

Re: Aidan.
Nic sent me a pic when he came out of surgery but my damned phone isn't receiving picture messages and I can't find out how to set it up properly.
Yes, I'm glad they did a bit extra too. Only having half a palette to repair should now be much quicker for him next time.

Re: Aidan.
I am sure he'll get used to his bottle again very quickly after all he's male and they are not the type to starve! Hope he has a good night and Nic gets some sleep. Not the same but I remember when Matthew had tonsilitis he used to grab for his bottle as he was so hungry but then scream blue murder as his throat hurt, it was a matter of dosing him up with enough pain relief to make his throat comfortable but not enough to make him fall asleep
Re: Aidan.
Doesn't that sound weird? lol.supergran wrote: looking forward to see him with his new mouth.
