Post by Lorraine Wed 5 May 2010 - 10:23

Just heard from Nic.

They syringed him through the night but this morning he's taking a bottle although not much and not for long. He needs to take more, but I'm sure that will happen as the days go on. As long as Nic can get him up to the minimum, we're hoping he'll be home Friday.

Kim, I totally agree. Nic and Jonny are finding it strange that he looks different. I keep looking at those last pics and can't believe that it's not how he looks any more.

Mia has been to her father's for a couple of days but she's coming back to me this evening.

Great news that he's taking his bottle - even if it's not very much just now. Each mouthful is a step towards him getting home.
Can't wait to see a piccie of him.

He probably feels a bit sore etc today after the surgery.
Hopefully he will take more milk as the day goes on. It must be strange
to have a changed face - not something that normally happens. It will all
take some adjusting to from all of you.

Unfortunately, he's changed his mind. Crying or Very sad

He took 30ml this morning and the registrar said that if he fed well all day they could come home this evening. Aidan then decided not to feed at all and he's even fighting the syringe, so as of 3.30 the 30ml is all he's had. Nic and Jonny have both had a good cry as they're so frustrated and upset.

They are searching for some smaller teats for him now as the one's he had are quite large but now his mouth is smaller the teat may be a bit invasive. Anyway, hoping for better news later.

I suspect, like most wounds, it is more painful today than it was initially. I'm sure he'll start feeding again very soon Aidan. - Page 6 Icon_smile and he'll be home before you know it. xxx

He's bound to be sore and swollen after the op, and if adults feel anything like little ones after a general he may well not feel like feeding anyway for 24hrs, let's hope he's soon got his appetite back, at least they have the syringe.
I bet they are all feeling tired and emotional. This time next week will be a whole different story.

Nic says he's taking his bottle today again. Not for long and not much, but it's a start. He's still on a drip so he doesn't dehydrate.
She said most of the swelling has gone down and he looks gorgeous. He's going to have a proper cupids bow and everything, but his smile is sooooooo different. Mr Green

The pain will lessen as the swelling goes down plus with him smiling he will be helping the healing process but stopping things getting too tight. Hope all goes well with the feeding and he can come home soon

Lorraine ask them about giving him arnica for the bruising and swelling, youcan give without doctors consent but it is best even if docotr doesn't think it does any good ...to ask. the tiny pills disolve in mouth so no swallowing huge pills x (it is homeopathic)

Will be pleased to pop back later and hear he is doing even better x

No, I've not seen him yet, Steph.

They were hoping to come home today but Aidan didn't meet his quota. He took 125ml about 3.00 which is brilliant. He's never taken that much, even before, but even if he did that more tonight he wouldn't have had the 600ml they want. The smaller teats have helped. However, Nic's been told that if he keeps feeding, they should be allowed home tomorrow.
Obviously I've got everything crossed. Not only because I want to see Aidan but Nic and Jonny are struggling with being in the hospital, Nic particularly is getting tearful now.

It looks like they're coming home today. Jonny has picked Mia up anyway so she can see where they've been and understand a bit more.
Nic says Aidan has done really well through the night and he's also sleeping better than he ever has too.

Fingers crossed nothing changes.

Yep, I answered you four posts up, hun, lol. I've not seen him. Jonny showed me some pics on his phone this morning and it was nowhere near what I expected, even straight out of sugery. Surgeon has done a brilliant job and it really doesn't look bad at all

Hopefully, I'll get some of my own pics later. Mr Green
