Re: Aidan.
Things are ok.
The registrar did call and after asking Nic some questions, said not to worry. Mr Henley also called later to say sorry about Aidan's little accident. As long as the bleeding had stopped, he's feeding and not crying things should be ok and they've got a follow up appointment soon anyway.
I think Jonny is a little paranoid about Aidan's nose. Nicola is convinced it's fine and to be honest, she's more likely to be right than Jonny. Jonny's forgotten that the surgeon changed the shape of his nose anyway and it certainly didn't look flat to me last night.
Anyway, for now, panic over.
He's still in a moses basket, Kim and it wasn't in its frame correctly, but you can be sure they won't be making that mistake again.

Re: Aidan.
Sounds fairly positive to be honest and his slightly flatter nose could just be things settling down. How on earth did the crib break, was it a manufacturing fault? Jonny will calm down, it just may take some time although as we all know paternal or maternal guilt is a wonderful thing (not)
Re: Aidan.
Well, would you believe it? Nic's just phoned and they're on their way to the hospital. The top of his mouth is all white and they weren't sure if it was milk coating, but Aidan is a little fractious. Anyway, hospital says it's possibly an infection and if it's Thrush again or anything else, it could break the wound down, so off the poor little mite goes again.
No fault with the crib, Ruth. The moses basket comes out for carrying or sits in the rocker frame. Jonny hadn't put the basket back in the frame correctly.

Oh Poor Jonny no wonder he's traumatised, but they will make sure it goes in properly any other time, hope things go well at hospital.

Hope the hospital visit puts their minds at ease and that it is nothing more than his usual thrush.
Might be time for a proper cot or is there some reason for using a moses basket?

Re: Aidan.
It's severe thrush again. Doh! The suspension they had before doesn't seem to work very well, so this time they've got some gel to rub on it. Good luck with that, I say. Nic's terrified of hurting him when she puts it on.
The reason he's still in the moses basket is because he's still in their room. They have been planning to put him in his cot in his own room, but things keep happening, or he's not sleeping or feeding, so until he's settled they're keeping him with them.

Re: Aidan.
Never a dull moment eh!
I feel for them it's awful when you think you're at fault, but accidents happen, just this one was more worrying for them, because of the recent surgery, hugs for them all, I'm sure he'll be fine.

have they thought of putting the moses basket onto the floor? hard for it to fall off there!

Re: Aidan.
Oh my what a lot has happened. I am so pleased to see the lovely pics of him and how different he looks, he's cute anyway.
The 'dropping' sounds awful (didn't see it in inc cos didn't read all to catch up DOH!), nothing will take the guilt away and am sure that as Aidan gets better and Jonny sees that he's ok he'll not feel as guilty. Poor things all of them.
Hope the thrush clears up really fast, can only imagine the stomach churning going on for Nic everytime she has to put the gel on. I hate putting sudocrem on a graze, never mind this kind of thing.
We had a moses basket too, and had to borrow the stand. We did have it on the floor for two nights in the begnining but I worried constantly about drafts from doors etc., so back on the stand she went. She didn't go into the big cot until she was 3 months old, but she was a good sleeper and everything at that point.

Re: Aidan.
THis was my first port of call as had been thinking of Aiden, he looks lovely and they have done a great job, but then I read about the accident. Not read incidental so not sure what has happened. I hope all is well soon and Mia told me that Aiden would have a mouth like hers, so I hope she is pleased too.
Re: Aidan.
Glad he's okay, and hope that the thrush clears soon.
My two slept in our room until they were six months, then we imposed 'proper' bedtimes etc. Moses baskets should be fine up until around six months anyway; and you can bet that Jonny will be double-checking theirs from now on anyway!

No, I'm not putting my 'to do' list here, that would be far to organised, PLUS I would have to keep it up to date Â

Re: Aidan.
Hope he has settled back ok and the meds soon do the trick.
I didn't have a basket and never had mine sleeping in our room, straight into the cot in their own rooms and they both settled and slept through very quickly.
Can understand Nic wanting Aidan near her though, a child with health issues is a different matter.

Re: Aidan.
I took this this morning and thought you may like to see how well he's healing. One scab left and it doesn't look like his fall did any damage.

What a neat job! Give it a few months and I would imagine it will hardly show, that surgeon certainly knows how to stitch well.

Re: Aidan.
Aidan's 7 months old today, so thought I'd update for you. I took this on Saturday. He's a very happy, smiley baby and doing really well. He's been weaned too and loves his food. Some of it still comes out of his nose where his palette is still open but it's not too bad at all.
